Week #10
Treat yourself to a non-food related reward
(Massage, date night, new item of clothing, etc.)
In theory this one is easy, but too often people reward themselves with food. We all deserve some acknowledgement for hard work (sometimes from ourselves- after all, we are our own worst critic). Do something for yourself this week! It can be as simple as picking up a book you’re interested in or getting a relaxing treatment of some kind.
How often have you said, “I’ve been so good today, I deserve (favorite food)….”. Some rewards can help your progress and others can hinder it. We are conditioned from a young age that unhealthy food can be earned for good behavior. For example, “we can go to McDonalds if..” or “You can have ice cream if…” It’s true that some foods will provide temporary pleasure as certain mood boosting hormones get released when we eat sugar, fat or salt. Instead, reward yourself with something that makes you feel better in the long run or helps you build momentum to achieve a goal. For example, a new pair of workout shoes, a new cook book, “personal” time or a massage. You do not have to reward yourself with items that cost money!
Team members will earn one point for each text or e-mail sent to group members and to: blockcfnutritionchallege@gmail.com to share how they treated themselves well that week.
