Week #2
One week down! We had some great Murph times from everyone last week. Great job!
This week we are going to focus on nutrition. The first thing we want you to do is start fresh. So… your challenge for this week is to: clean out your pantry, fridge and freezer. Toss junk food, expired items, etc. and stock up on fresh, healthy foods to get you on-track! If you don’t have healthy (or unhealthy) food available, you can’t eat it.
Take some time this week to grocery shop and get what you need for meals and snacks. Ideally, you should be doing this on a regular basis but how often do you meal prep on the weekends or pack a lunch for work?
When it comes to good nutrition the more food you can prepare at home, the better. In my opinion, as a dietitian, fast food should be a last resort. Too often we don’t plan ahead and instead end up relying on fast food or convenience items like frozen meals or canned soup.
Here are some healthy staples that I have in my home:
- Fresh fruits and veggies
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Whole grains like oatmeal, quinoa and Ezekiel bread
- Protein powder
- Canned beans
- Greek yogurt (low-sugar)
- Nuts & seeds
- Bars- Perfect bars & quest bars
Each team member will earn one point for completing the challenge. You MUST e-mail a picture for proof to ALL team members and to: blockcfnutritionchallenge@gmail.com by Sunday, March 6.
