Tracking Progress
Tracking your progress has never been as easy as downloading an app on your phone. You could instantly turn your phone into a tool that can track your progress, keep you motivated and so much more. Keeping track of our progress is especially important when you have long-term goals. Of course there are millions of apps to choose from, so here are a few that may help you track your fitness and or nutrition progress.
Two great free fitness apps are Pocket WOD and Nike Training Club. Pocket WOD includes a WOD, lift log, weekly Paleo recipes, timers, news, videos and more. This app has also been featured in Men’s Fitness Magazine as one of the “Top 5 Personal Trainer Apps Worth the Download.” But what if you are looking for something outside of the WOD routine the Nike Training Club app is a perfect fit. You can choose from a variety of workouts that range in intensity from beginner, intermediate, and advanced. As well as based on your overall goal to get lean, get toned, get strong, or get focused.
Three helpful nutrition-tracking apps include CalorieKing, Fooducate, and MyFitnessPal. CalorieKing provides a quick and easy way to determine calories, carbs and fat of over 70,000 foods and includes 260 fast food restaurants. Fooducate has been featured all over the media (Oprah, USAToday, NYTimes, etc.) and won the 1st prize in the US Surgeon General Healthy App Challenge. Unlike, all the other nutrition apps this app allows you to scan a product barcode and see nutrition grades (A, B, C, or D) for food. This app teaches you to eat healthier by making you more aware of excessive sugar, tricky trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, gluten, GMO, and more. MyFitnessPal is one of the most widely used apps, which has also been featured all over the media. This application is easy to use (barcode scanner included) and can serve as an essential nutrition tracking tool. This app can help you determine a calorie range or you can enter one yourself. As you log your food the app will track calories consumed and those you have left. You can also create recipes, connect with friends, view charts of your progress, but most importantly see your daily nutrition summary with all major nutrients.
Regardless of the app you choose to download and use. The important thing to remember is to keep track of your fitness and nutrition. This will serve as a tool to monitor your progress and achievements. How will you measure your success?
